Plaag

Ironic Twists, and Tales
Misantrof ANTIrecords
2012

After becoming a believer in what songwriter/musician/artist Somber von Plaag calls "Black and Roll", I have been impatiently awaiting for new material! Lo and behold Somber unleashes his 2012 opus, "Ironic Twists, and Tales" to satiate our musical hunger!. Track one titled "Once" shows Plaags contininuing musical maturity. Great guitar riffs, and vocals with a better production, yet very raw performances soldifies Plaag in the underground blackened metal genre. Track two titled "Stitched and Stapled" continues the frenzy that is Plaag. Punky driven guitar and bass makes this tune really fun to listen to. Very tight performance on this one as well. Plague is track three and is wrought full of speedy riffing, and driving drums! I do believe if I had to choose a favorite on the album, this is it! Next is "Hear 'em Roll" and is a bit darker of a tune. Excellent songwriting yet again! Track five is called "Misanthropist" and the song lives up to the title! Great breakdown riff in the middle section adds depth to the tune, then it's back into the pit! The disc end with "Wonderful World", a treatise on the current state of world affairs and is also the outro to the album.

Plaag hails from Belgium and features Somber von Plaag on songwriting, recording, lyrics, and artwork and Ngative von Plaag on vocals and lyrics. All instruments by Somber as well. From start to finish, Plaag brings us another trek into the madness of his mind, creating chaotic landscapes with brutal finesse. Track listing for "Ironic Twists and Tales" is:

1. Once
2. Stitched and Stapled
3. Plague
4. Hear 'em Roll
5. Misanthropist
6. Wonderful World (Outro)
